Preface
Today, so-called information highway society, according to the change of all the systems together with development of technology, the environment surrounding human beings is not only physically but also psychologically and socially changed. Against these changes, we need to adapt ourselves to these every time those changes come to you. Then the failure and success of this adaptation equally cause a strong stress, making us challenge a whole new stress. Accordingly, in modern society we always get stresses, as ‘sarie?said the perfect release from the stress means death. So to stay away from the stress, in Japan yoga, the Zen-Buddhist meditation, Chinese medical remedy, self-control training method, music therapy are on fashion, besides mental relaxation method using various tools has been developed. In the overseas, only a couple of machines are on the market, but in Japan a facility directly offering a mental relaxation to the public off the medical site was built about 2 years ago , whose machine is the imported from U.S.A. Also there is no report which medically observed the efficacy about a machine that furthers mental relaxation.
Method and experiment order
With 12 adults( aging 19-30, average age ?standard deviation = 23.75?.07, men and women each 6 ) without any high blood pressure and heart disease being the subject, we set up an experimental design like table 1. We conducted analysis of brain wave record of 8 channel in a lying position for 14-15 min, eyeball moving standard, an electrocardiogram, polygraph of breath, brain wave. Binding of lying position was conducted in turns with total times ?1. without MC Square 2. with MC Square 3. with MC Square but no sound and visuality. And considering the sequence effectiveness, we conducted one case with stimulation and the other case without stimulation without an advance notice.
Meanwhile, we forced the subjects to close their eyes during the clinical binding, and didn’t allow them to sleep even if they feel dazed. But we let them sleep in case they can’t fight sleepiness. The brain wave record for 14-15 min when in sleep, besides brain wave analysis, was used to judge if it’s, from the part of international sleep judging standard (SW: in case of appearance of alpha wave), snooze state ( SD; In case alpha appearance rate in area 1 is under 50% and there is no appearance of theta wave and hump ), the first level of sleep ( S1; in case of the appearance of theta wave and u wave ), the second level of sleep ( in case of the appearance of sleep spindle ) (table 2) and we calculated the respective phase appearance rate during the recording periods. The sleeping rate( SE1 ) was measured in proportion of total phase from SD of the previous recording time to S2. Through the subjective Stanford sleepiness scale before and after measuring brain wave, psychological test like a mixture of feeling, hricker fusion test, we measured bodily temperature, blood pressure, heartbeat. After finishing the first psychological test, we gathered 5ml’s blood using 21G’s detention needle , after this, gathered blood of the same amount right after finishing brain record of every time. After gathering, we put that under refrigeration preservation(- 20 dgree) by separating a centrifuge under the extreme cold ( 3000 rotations, 10 min ), gathering blood plasma. The frozen blood plasma was submitted to the measurement of cortisol and growth hormone by RIA(HGH) as prompt as possible. In audition, after gathering blood, we got the detention needle filled with edible pure water. The electroencephalograph (EEG-4317) made by Nihon koden corporation was used for the brain wave record, the signal processor (7T-18) made by Nihon denki samyoug was used for brain wave analysis. Blood pressure was measured by the digital hemadynamometer made by Telmo corporation. The experiment was conducted between 1 pm and 6 pm. In the MC Square, we had 10 stimulation methods making the period of visual and auditory stimulation the same and whose maintaining time is 15-75min, but we chose the program # 1 whose maintaining time is 15min(minimum) by taking the time needed for brain wave analysis and the experiment time into consideration. As a preparatory experiment, we had done a frequency analysis of the aspect of the optically stimulated by using an optical sensor. As a result, this program was marked 12Hz for 2 min right after commencing the stimulation, after this, the frequency showed an abrupt drop marking 6Hz’s stimulation for 9min and the frequency was coming back to 12Hz again in the last 1-2min. And because visual and auditory stimulation was making the left keep pace with the right, the simulation frequency of cerebrum cortex, visual area, auditory area was thought 24-12-24Hz. |
